After the first rainstorm, the side yard was holding water right against the garage and I was pretty frustrated. The excavating contractors I hired came out as a crew, cut a clean trench along the garage side, and checked with me by phone before moving a fence panel that was in their way. What stood out was how careful they were around the sprinkler heads, especially when one of them stopped and brushed mud off the line to make sure it was still intact. The yard finally drains the way it should, and they left it looking a lot less torn up than I expected.
